U.S. sees progress in children's health, education

A report from the Annie E. Casey Foundation released on Monday shows that most states reported a rise in the number of children with health insurance, improvements in birth weights, and lower death rates involving youths between 2005 and 2011. However, the effect left by the 2007-09 recession still is evident, with 16.4 million children living in low-income households in 2011, up from 15.7 million in 2010.
