Many architecture, engineering and construction firms can lose as much as $100,000 a year because of their business-management practices, according to June Jewell, owner of Acuity Business Solutions and a certified public accountant. She notes three particular areas that can be problematic, including the founders' love of creativity and lack of attention to profits.
