Commentary: Hedgers continue to face Dodd-Frank uncertainty

Former Sen. Blanche Lincoln writes that lawmakers who wrote the Dodd-Frank Act were striving to regulate the over-the-counter derivatives market. However, four years later, businesses that don't present a systemic risk continue to face uncertainty regarding the regulatory changes. "[B]usinesses that use derivatives to hedge normal risk are still up in the air about whether they will have to set aside millions of dollars to comply with proposed margin requirements," Lincoln writes.
