Nations need time to align laws with OTC reporting rules

Privacy laws in some countries are at odds with US and European reporting rules for over-the-counter derivatives, and those countries need time to make changes, says Marc Stephens, an analyst with Quebec's Autorite des Marches Financiers. "I think there is a lot of pressure to make sure those jurisdictions are given some time -- but not too much time, because it makes for an unlevel playing field," he said.
