As more people crowd emergency rooms with ailments that do not actually necessitate emergency treatments, hospitals are calling on nurse practitioners to make house calls for minor medical issues. In-home care is helpful because NPs can see people who have multiple illnesses that may prevent them from traveling to a doctor's office and can also point out any situations in patients' homes that could be harmful to their health.
