Amgen to release Epogen data in face of House panel hearing

Amgen planned to release data about the dosages of its Epogen anemia drug before today's hearing by a House panel looking into Medicare payments. Critics on the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health assert the program's payment system gives doctors an incentive to overprescribe the drug, but Amgen said its data shows physicians have scaled back prescriptions in recent months.
