AT&T inks Cooper Power for smart-grid service

AT&T said it had landed a second utility partner for its smart-grid energy-monitoring service, which will run over the carrier's wireless-data network. Cooper Power Systems will help AT&T market the service in a deal that the telecom said would beef up the technology by furthering its reach from the meter to the power-production plant.
