Dark blue tiles convert light into energy

A Philadelphia company has developed curved roof tiles that use amorphous silicon to convert light into electricity. Executives at SRS Energy say the dark blue tiles generate about 10% more energy than flat-glass panels because they produce energy during early morning and evening hours. An SRS system costs about 30% more than a traditional installation. However, roofing contractors can install the tiles, executives say.
