Adopting something new is difficult because of short-term inefficiency, marketing guru Seth Godin writes. Companies stick to the tried and true because they're unwilling to sacrifice short-term numbers for long-term gain. "[O]rganizations that choose to switch are usually the ones with the least to lose," Godin writes. "... [It's one] reason they're always leapfrogging the market leaders."
