Indiana University studies Lilly's economic impact on state

Eli Lilly and Co. contributed $8.03 billion, or 3.3%, to Indiana's gross state product in 2007, and the drugmaker continues to elevate the state's economy through purchases and taxes, according to a report by an Indiana University professor. Lilly CEO John Lechleiter plans to use the study to reiterate to lawmakers the need to protect the drug industry during health care reform.
