Miami-Dade hotels continue to see declines, but other areas improve

South Florida's Broward County and the Keys saw occupancy at hotels during the peak season of Christmas through Memorial Day remain steady this year, with rates approaching or matching those seen in 2008. But the region's Miami-Dade market has been hit harder. That market saw room revenue decline 24% year over year in May, compared to a 13% drop in Broward County and the Keys, according to Smith Travel Research.
