NCATE plans an overhaul of teacher-education programs

The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education plans to overhaul its standards for teacher-education programs nationwide, particularly the student-teaching portion. "Right now, students do a semester of student teaching at two schools. By 2013, education seniors will have a whole year of student teaching," said Carlette Hardin, interim dean of the College of Education at Austin Peay State University.
