Company behind "Gossip Girl" is acquired by Alloy Media

An investor group led by ZelnickMedia has purchased for $126.5 million Alloy Media, a media and entertainment company whose hits include "Gossip Girl," "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and "The Vampire Diaries." Ex-Nickelodeon CEO Geraldine Laybourne has been named chairman of Alloy, which plans to go private. Co-founders Matt Diamond and Jim Johnson will remain as CEO and chief operating officer, respectively.
