Communities should encourage good nutrition and exercise in many little ways, rather than looking for a single solution for childhood obesity, says David Katz, director of the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center in Connecticut. He has developed a nutrition-scoring system for grocery stores, NuVal, which rates foods on a scale of 1 to 100, and computer programs for schools that teach students about nutrition.
