Payless Shoesource plans to launch a line of branded beauty products in its stores this fall; J Crew is lending its name to wedding dresses; and Brooks Brothers is branching out from suits to home furnishings. The three well-known chains are part of a move to increase sales by expanding branded product categories, in an era of slowed new-store openings.
