4 in 5 college students split their attention between TV, second screen

The computer still dominates U.S. college students' time, but the number of hours spent in front of computers and television sets is slipping as smartphone use increases, according to a Crux Research study. The firm found 80% of college students saying they use a second screen while watching TV at least a few times weekly. Top second-screen activities include social networking, surfing the Web and playing games, with schoolwork a distant fourth place at 37%.
