ACC's chemical barometer reflects increase in consumer activity

The American Chemistry Council's chemical activity barometer increased 0.3% last month on a 3-month moving average basis, posting an 11th consecutive monthly hike. "Virtually all production-related indicators strengthened in June," said ACC Chief Economist Kevin Swift. "Most notable is the healthy-paced production of plastic resins used in consumer and institutional applications, suggesting the consumer-led economic expansion is still in place."
