AT&T expands "innovation centers" for connected devices

AT&T has ratcheted up its investment in connected devices with the opening of two more "innovation centers" -- one in Atlanta, the other in Plano, Texas, where the carrier already operates a foundry. The Atlanta facility will work to advance AT&T's Digital Life strategy of connecting consumer appliances and cars, while the Plano plant will focus on machine-to-machine connections, AT&T said. Also, AT&T Mobility head Ralph de la Vega said the carrier sold out its Facebook Home handsets after lowering the price to 99 cents.
