Barnes & Noble backs off Nook tablets

Barnes & Noble has reported a heavy quarterly loss in its Nook division that more than offset bookstore profit, spurring the retailer to stop producing tablets and focus on co-branding with third-party manufacturers. The company will continue making black-and-white e-readers, which make up most of its e-book sales.
