N.D. district sees increase in unpaid meal debt

In Jamestown Public Schools in North Dakota, officials say the amount of students' unpaid meal debt has steadily risen over the years. While the school district has hired a collection agency to recover the funds, officials say that, in some cases, there may not be any money to collect and they encourage parents to sign up for free and reduced-price meals if the parents cannot afford to pay.
