Newest frontier in 3D printing: Drug delivery devices

A team at Britain's University of Nottingham is exploring ways to use 3D printing technology to make more effective medicine tablets and possibly other kinds of drug delivery devices. "The idea is to create the optimal design for drug release within a computer algorithm," said Nottingham researcher Ricky Wildman. The engineering challenges include producing objects with multiple materials and ensuring quality standards.
