NYC launches massive bike-sharing program

After years of planning and adding more than 200 miles of bike lanes on city streets, New York City launched its bike-sharing program this spring. Biking is a good way to get around and increase activity, said exercise physiologist Dr. Robert Oppliger, and the bike-share program will afford more New Yorkers the opportunity to use a bike rather than a car for short-distance travel.
