Pew report: Many children lack access to dental care

A report from the Pew Charitable Trusts showed that more than 14 million low-income children in the U.S. failed to visit a dentist in 2011. Children's access to dental care is hindered by the shortage of dentists across the country and the small number of dentists treating Medicaid patients, researchers said. "Millions of children are going without dental care every year because we don't have a system that can treat them," said Jane Koppelman of the Pew Children's Dental Campaign.
