Test for salmonella leads to recall of frozen pet food

The Robert Abady Dog Food Co. is recalling Abady Frozen High Stress/High Performance Dog Food in 3-pound packages and Abady Frozen Growth Formula for Puppies of the Large and Giant Breeds, also in 3-pound packages, due to possible salmonella contamination. The New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets found the bacteria in some samples of the food. Although no illnesses have been reported related to the food, both pets and people can become ill with gastrointestinal symptoms from the bacteria.
