U.S. Fed official calls for much greater commitment to near-zero rates

Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank President Narayana Kocherlakota called for more clarity from the Fed on its bond-buying intentions as well as maintaining an interest rate near zero until the jobless rate falls to 5.5%. That unemployment target, Kocherlakota said, would probably take two years longer to meet than the 6.5% goal previously mentioned by the Fed.
