IKEA picks Germany for its first urban store

IKEA will open a store in the heart of Hamburg, Germany, its first test of a smaller urban store aimed at bringing in pedestrians. The new format, which is about 20% smaller than a typical IKEA store, comes as consumers give up cars and shift their shopping habits toward smaller, more frequent trips to stores closer to home.
