L.A. officials OK preliminary river-signage plan

The Los Angeles City Council has approved a proposal to identify locations for new signs on paths along the Los Angeles River. Public-safety agencies will spend two months mapping the best spots for new call boxes and signage to help people in trouble let rescuers know their location.
