Nanotechnology guidelines issued by FDA

The FDA has announced recommendations for companies that make products using nanotechnology that are regulated by the government. Regulators seek to encourage companies to consult with them prior to marketing their products; however, it will be up to the makers to decide whether to launch the products. "We are taking a prudent scientific approach to assess each product on its own merits and are not making broad, general assumptions about the safety of nanotechnology products," FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret Hamburg said.
