Nearly half of the electronic aisle scanners in several Boston-area supermarkets do not comply with new state regulations for ensuring accurate pricing, according to a recent study. The regulations allow grocers to install scanners instead of using individual price tags, but the law requires clearly posted signs and gives customers the right to have items free, up to $10, if a checkout scanner charges a higher price.
