Court throws out SEC's hedge-fund registration rule

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on Friday threw out an SEC rule that had required hedge funds to register with the agency. The appeals court criticized the SEC's reasoning as "arbitrary," after regulators changed the interpretation of the word "client" last year in order to require registration.
