CFTC head says oversight of derivatives dealers is key

Gary Gensler, chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said increased oversight of dealers that are involved with derivatives transactions is "critical." Gensler said that while he supports the Obama administration's regulatory revamp, "one of the great lessons" from the financial crisis is related to the lack of dealer oversight. Gensler also supports central clearing, saying it "will further lower risk."
