Opinion: Bill would strengthen security at chemical plants

A bill introduced in the House last week would make the Department of Homeland Security's Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards permanent while requiring chemical plants to analyze how they can make their chemicals or processes safe from terrorist attack. In an opinion piece, the sponsors of the bill -- including Reps. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., and Henry Waxman, D-Calif. -- call for its passage.
