Transgender federal workers to gain anti-bias protections

Under new rules scheduled to take effect in the next few months, transgender federal workers would gain protections from discrimination in the workplace. The move by the Obama administration is considered by advocates to be a major advance for transgender rights. "The president is making a very clear statement that transgender people won't be discriminated against," said Mara Keisling, the executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality.
