Study finds improved life expectancy in patients with type 1 diabetes

Patients with type 1 diabetes diagnosed between 1965 and 1980 have a life expectancy more than 15 years greater than those diagnosed between 1950 and 1964, a study found. The findings presented at the annual meeting of the American Diabetes Association suggest that advances in diabetes intervention have all but eliminated differences in life expectancy between those with type 1 diabetes and the general population.
