FTC commissioner urges consumer control over data

Federal Trade Commissioner Julie Brill is calling for legislation that would allow consumers to access their data collected by marketers to determine how it's shared and correct it. Brill said the program could complement the impending "do not track" standard. Meanwhile, the Center for Digital Democracy is preparing to monitor Web companies and services to see how well they conform to new FTC privacy rules for children.
