Jukeboxes: Engineering marvels of the recent past

Jukeboxes may seem primitive today, but the engineering that went into their design was impressive, given what each machine was called upon to do in challenging environments. Among other things, they had to accept coins, select songs, handle delicate records and compensate for the vibrations of active dance floors, all with minimal maintenance. The names of engineers who designed these marvels are largely lost to memory, but they are legends to enthusiasts and collectors.
