MIT offers cost-effective solution for power-plant CO2 scrubbing

An electrochemical process that replaces steam-based separation of amines and carbon dioxide is the energy-saving idea behind a new carbon dioxide scrubbing system for power plants. Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers say their new system is practical and can easily be retrofitted to existing plants.
