New TV standard will keep local broadcast competitive, Sinclair CEO says

Sinclair Broadcast Group's moves to acquire multiple new stations are meant to lay the groundwork for local broadcasters to compete directly with cable, satellite, wireless and other rival platforms to offer the most targeted ad opportunities, CEO David Smith said. Such a future is only possible if broadcasters endorse ATSC 3.0 as the new TV standard. Otherwise, "we can't compete," Smith said.
