Senate panel threatens to eliminate funding for ITER

The Senate Appropriations Committee introduced a bill Tuesday to set funding levels for the Department of Energy and the Army Corps of Engineers, and it included an elimination of funding for the international fusion project ITER unless the Energy Department provided Congress with the project's baseline cost, schedule and scope. The panel did provide the Obama administration's requested funding for clean-energy research efforts.
