Turkey's crackdown on protests delays EU membership talks

The EU postponed talks on Turkey's membership application for at least four months in a public rebuke of the country's violent crackdown on anti-government protesters. Germany, Austria and the Netherlands said going ahead with negotiations would send the wrong message to Turkey. Protesters' clashes with police have killed four people and injured about 7,500.
