US Airways refutes GAO "speculation" on losing hubs

The Government Accountability Office released a report on the proposed merger between US Airways and American Airlines that suggested the merged carrier would lose one of its hubs, likely either Philadelphia or Charlotte, N.C. "The GAO report is rank speculation," said Howard Kass, US Airways vice president of legal and government affairs. "It's not based on facts or an understanding of how the new American network will be built."
