Firm that develops replacement organs raises $50 million

Replacement organ developer Tengion has raised $50 million in private equity, which it plans to use for clinical trials of its lead product, a bladder for patients with spina bifida and spinal-cord injuries. The funds also will be used to advance the company's product pipeline and create a 45,000-square-foot manufacturing facility.
