Revived immigration bill survives test, faces new hurdles

The fragile bipartisan compromise that gave the immigration bill a second life survived a Senate procedural hurdle Tuesday and now faces votes on about two dozen amendments that could once again threaten its survival. "There is a lot to be lost here," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., a sponsor of the bill. Some of the "amendments that are left to be dealt with basically take the bill backwards."
