Senate panel hears of conflict in drugmaker-doctor relations

Nearly two-thirds of the cost of continuing education courses in medicine is sponsored by drugmakers, according to testimony at a Senate committee hearing. Vermont officials also have disclosed that psychiatrists earn more money from drugmakers than other doctors, the data a result of a type of company disclosure now required by several state Medicaid programs.
