Studies: Antidepressants lead to only a few birth defects

A pair of published studies suggests a risk of some birth defects may result if mothers take antidepressants, specifically selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, during the first trimester. The studies, one for the CDC, also found that although the risk exists, it is not considered major, given the small number of actual cases.
