Merrill Lynch has few options if capital is needed

John Thain was lauded for rapidly raising cash when he took over as CEO of Merrill Lynch last year, but the terms of those deals may leave him with few options if the company needs more capital. Now, as Merrill faces what is expected to be a fourth straight quarterly loss, expectations are mounting that a fundraising effort may be considered.
