Program improves detection, cancer care for minority women

Community education and outreach initiatives that increase cancer awareness and screenings improved the stage at diagnosis for breast cancer in underserved minority women, a new study found. The researchers are working to determine the impact of patient navigators on treatment and appointment adherence and to find the obstacles to specific interventions.
