Bingaman: Senate climate bill is unlikely to get 60 votes

Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said the Senate is unlikely to approve a climate-and-energy bill like the one by Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Joe Lieberman, I-Conn. "If you actually have a bill that puts in place a cap-and-trade system or a limit on greenhouse gases and a mandatory reduction in greenhouse gases, I think it is difficult to see where we get the 60 votes to pass that legislation," Bingaman said.
