Leading UK headmistress laments cutbacks to traditional curriculum

Schools are focusing too much on social issues such as drugs and obesity at the cost of instruction in key subjects, says the director of a charity that aims to help teachers recover their love for teaching specific subjects. Bernice McCabe, a top headmistress in London, said there is a decline in the number of students learning subjects such as English literature, history and geography in any depth.
