Study: Good glucose control curbs heart failure risk in type 1 diabetes

Patients with type 1 diabetes who had tight glucose control were nearly four times less likely to suffer from heart failure than those with unregulated glucose levels, according to a study reported at the annual meeting of the American Diabetes Association and online in The Lancet. The findings underscore the importance of good glycemic control to prevent diabetes-related cardiovascular complications, experts said.
